PRACTICE GUIDELINES AND EXPECTATIONS
REPORT TIMES
Players need to report to field no later than 30 minutes before scheduled start time to help set up and get mentally prepared. I understand due to class times some will have to be a little later than that. An emergency should be the only reason not to show up 30 minutes early.
SETUP AND TEAR DOWN
Field maintenance duties will be assigned for before and after practices and games. Don’t look for a way to get out of things. Always be looking for a way to help your teammates.
EQUIPMENT
Only PBA issued uniforms are allowed to be worn. We want to be unified in every aspect of our preparation and competition. Uniforms include:
*Hat (Never worn backwards)
*Jersey (To be tucked in at all times)
*BP Shirt
*Pants
*Belt
*Socks
*Shoes (We will not have team spikes in the fall) wear black or Navy blue if you have them. If not, wear what you have until we get our team shoes in the spring.
PACE
Every player is required to jog:
1. Between Stations
2. On and off the field
3. Coming in for your BP group and going back out after your BP group

4. From field gate to cage gate and back except for concrete while wearing spikes

5. Pitchers to and from IM field except for concrete while wearing spikes

6. Pitchers in and out of dugout for team BP

BATTING PRACTICE
1. Hitters will be assigned a regular group for BP. That will remain your group unless notified by a coach.
2. All hitters will enter the turtle from the 3rd base side and exit to the 1st base side. At a quick pace, even if you weren’t satisfied with your round.
3. Pitchers will do some shagging as part of a BP rotation
4. Pitchers will have a daily fungo rotation determined by Coach Bottenfield
5. Pitchers will do their daily running during BP usually supervised by Coach Bottenfield
6. No messing around at a position that’s not yours, unless you are being asked to help a teammate get work done. For example, taking throws at first or feeds at second.
TEAM DRILLS AND FUNDAMENTALS
Full participation in drills and a complete focus are paramount for every drill and fundamental we do. If we are to be successful, just being “present” doesn’t do us any good. You are expected to participate at full game speed unless instructed otherwise by a coach or athletic trainer.
When a coach is talking there is no other talking. We can all learn even if it’s another position being talked about. A player who is aware of all positions responsibilities during a game is a player who performs with confidence because he’s secure in knowing who will be where on the field at any given time.
INDIVIDUAL AND EARLY WORK ATTIRE
Team issued shorts and shirts are required to be worn for individual work with coaches but are not mandatory for early work or working on your own
